Single Engine Landing Gear Service Systems and
Procedures Course
One of the many questions the CPA Technical Staff
receives weekly from the membership concerns the operation,
rigging and service of the landing gear retract/extend system
incorporated on the Cessna Single-Engine aircraft. Several of
the inquires about this system have even lead to the potential
owner not buying a retractable Cessna in fear that his/her
technician will not be able to work on the landing gear
system. Whether the aircraft owner, pilot and/or technician
has the proper tools & equipment, service information &
manuals and knowledge, CPA has seen a demand to offer another
teaching course for the membership called the Cessna
Single-Engine Landing Gear Service Course. CPA has had great
success with their model specific system & procedure courses
and the mechanics' level Single-Engine Flight Control Rigging
course that we here at CPA felt a need to once again share our
knowledge and gain some helpful insight from the membership.
So that facilities in other parts of the country can offer a
comparable service, the Cessna Pilot's Association is offering
a mechanics level course to understand the Cessna 100/200
Series Aircraft landing gear systems. This two-day program
covers all aspects of Cessna retractable aircraft Inspection,
Service, Rigging and Troubleshooting. The program includes
both classroom and hands-on work, actual aircraft will be
worked on and operated. The program is open to all CPA
members, however it should be understood that this is a
mechanics-level course and attendees will be expected to have
at least basic knowledge of aircraft maintenance. Because the
goal of this program is to increase the locations in the field
that can properly service a single engine Cessna, preference
in registration will be given to mechanics working in the
profession. Attendees will be limited to 10 to 12, however,
should there be sufficient demand, additional seminars may be
added later in the year. Upon completion of the program each
attendee will be presented with a graduation certificate* and
those working in aviation maintenance will be listed by the
Association in our magazine and web site. This will allow CPA
members to find people trained to service, inspect, rig and
troubleshoot their single-engine retractable aircraft by the
Cessna Pilots Association.
*All CPA S&P courses, FCR & LDG courses meet the requirements
contained in FAR 65.93(A)(4) Inspection Authorization renewal
and is acceptable towards IA renewal.
